Performance

WP Rocket offers blazing-fast speed results, as well as plenty of optimization features that are especially helpful for more complex websites.

The plugin is designed to improve Core Web vitals and address Google PageSpeed recommendations.

The list of available features is long and most are applied automatically.
Hummingbird is a caching plugin developed by WPMU DEV. It offers good overall speed optimization but doesn’t address some of the PageSpeed recommendations that significantly affect the score, such as Reduce Unused JS and Delay JS Execution.

The Pro plans comes with scheduled performance reports and uptime monitoring.

Ease of Use

WP Rocket probably has the easiest setup you can imagine (you’re done in 3 minutes tops). It applies 80% of web performance best practices automatically, without having to enable any options. Literally, anyone can speed up their website using WP Rocket. No coding skills are needed although advanced users always have room to play around with the features.
Hummingbird also has a very easy setup. It runs tests straight upon activation and recommends some basic optimization options. But it needs to be configured: some basic features (like caching for example) are not enabled automatically. Once you activate them, expect an overwhelmingly long list of options to fine-tune.

Compatibility

WP Rocket is compatible with 99% of hosts. It’s also compatible with the most popular tools, themes, plugins. Furthermore, the team is constantly working on removing any incompatibilities.
Hummingbird is compatible with WooCommerce and WPML. It doesn’t offer any solutions in its settings to resolve issues with other plugins that are not fully compatible with page caching.
