1) Download Local on your machine and set it up.
2) Now download a backup of site you want to set up on local. Here we are going to setup a site on local that is hosted on wpengine. Click on the 3 dots next to backup point and you will see an option to download the zip file of site. Once clicked on "Download"
Backup can be downloaded as shown in screenshot.
3) Now once we have backup file downloaded from email to our computer, then we have to set it up on local.
4) To setup site on local we have to open local app and click on "+" sign in bottom left as shown in screenshot below.
5) Once we click on "+", we will get 3 options - , and We will go with 3rd option → Simply upload the zip file there.
6) Click on "Continue" button after zip file is added. You will see option to name you site. You can give whatever name you want. Then click on continue.
7) Now you will be prompted to select preferred or custom environment for your site. I would go with preferred and click on "Import Site" button.
8) Once clicked on "Import Site" button, site will start importing as shown in screenshot below.
9) After this is complete. Make sure to trust SSL other wise you will get SSL warnings on site. You have to simply click on to make this working as shown in screenshot below
10) To make site live so that others around the globe can view it . Click on the link "Enable" marked in screenshot below:
11) Once clicked you will get an arrow next to live link. Click on it and you will see the details. Live link, user and password to view it as shown in screenshot below.
12) We also has an option to change the username and password. This can de done by clicking on "Edit details" in the popup or by clicking on under the as shown in screenshot below.
Also 1 point to note, to edit username and password we have to disable live link and then we will get an option to change it.
13) by toggling Xdebug to On. The log can then be viewed by clicking Details, or with the site running at http://yoursite.local/local-xdebuginfo.php
14) The can be accessed in the Local site’s file system. With the site open in Local, click . Next, open
